Home in the Shenandoah - Skyline Drive

If you've ever heard anyone talk about Skyline Drive then you've heard about its remarkable beauty and surreal vistas. The truth is that everything that you heard is true. The legendary road was constructed in 1939 and spans 109 miles from the I-64 northward to the I-66 in Virginia.

Now do you see what I'm talking about? I shot this image in May of 2016 in the middle of the day with a Canon 6D and Tamron 70-200 lens.

Skyline Drive is maintained by the National Park Service and they do an excellent job of it as well. You can expect an entrance fee but I highly recommend purchasing the yearly pass for $40 (as of June 2016) if you plan on returning at all. It's well worth the money.

If you're in the area, please take the time to enjoy a little of what Virginia has to offer and take a ride on the Skyline.

**Note: If you head south of the I-64, Skyline Drive turns into the Blue Ridge Parkway... but that's a story for another time :)**
